Overview
You find that some of the Top Places are not showing in the Top Places Report.
- These affected places have a higher number of views (in the Activities Card in Place Analytics) than other places that are present in the report.
- You also find that the CSV export of the report has only 25 places, whereas it used to have 50 places earlier.
Information
This is functioning as designed. The place activity view count is different in Place and Community Analytics.
- The Activity Card in Place Analytics shows a sum of all visits to the Place (i.e views of the overview page or any sub-page) plus views of each content item in the Place.
- The Top 25 Places only counts content/document views and does not include the count of visits to the Place.
Top Places CSV download returns the Top 25 results. This is a product change to ensure consistency between the UI (always showing 25 places) and the CSV results (now matches the UI). Earlier this used to have 50 results.
Testing
Consider the below example scenario:
- A user creates a new Social Group called “QuickSilver” and is taken to the overview page as soon as the group is created.
- This counts as 1 visit to the Place
- Place Analytics shows this as 1 view (sum of 0 content views and 1 place visit).
- The user then creates a Jive Document by clicking the “Document” link on the group’s overview page.
- The user is taken to the created document.
- This counts as 1 content view.
- Place Analytics now shows 2 views (sum of 1 content view and 1 place visit).
- The user then clicks the Pencil Icon and creates a Blog Post inside the same “QuickSilver” group.
- The user is taken to the created Blog Post.
- This counts as 1 content view.
- Place Analytics now shows 3 views (sum of 2 content views and 1 place visit).
- The user then clicks the group’s name and goes to the overview page.
- This counts as 1 more visit.
- Place Analytics now shows 4 views (sum of 2 place visits and 2 content views)
- The user then clicks the previously created document and views it.
- This counts as 1 more content view.
- Place Analytics now shows 5 views (sum of 2 place visits and 3 content views).
- The user now refreshes the document page.
- This counts as 1 more content view.
- Place Analytics now shows 6 views (sum of 4 content views and 2 place visits)
- The user then navigates to the Profile Icon Menu > Community Analytics.
- The user opens the Community Usage Dashboard and scrolls down to the Top Places report.
- The QuickSilver group shows with only 4 views. This is because the sum of content views above is 4. The place visits are not included in this count.
