Impact Metric Views and the Views Listed on the Content Page Do Not Match (Jive Cloud)

Overview

When reviewing the views listed in the impact metrics display for a content item, and comparing them to the views listed on the page for that item, the view counts do not match.

An example of this problem is listed below:

Information

The view count listed on a content item's page tracks all the views of that content item regardless of the source of the view. This count is stored and retrieved from the application database. The views tracked by this count include:

  • Views by guest users or bots.
  • Views through the use of the API: Streams, tiles, and news feeds use the API to retrieve a content item, and as such, each time the content item is retrieved by these elements, the view count here will increase.

The views listed in the impact metrics display do not include the above items. The views in the impact metrics are recorded through the Cloud Analytics system and are not retrieved from the application database.

Note: There was also a related bug (Issue key: JVCLD-122198) that was fixed in Jive Cloud Release 3006.5 (release notes). Jive instances are automatically upgraded to the latest version. If you haven't yet been upgraded or have chosen to stay on an earlier version and now would like to upgrade, please get in touch with your Account Manager/Executive to arrange for the upgrade.

Note: Any new JIRAs for similar problems should go in JVCLD (as of Jan 2022).
