Overview
This article explains if it is possible to limit the visibility of a space from a specific security group, and proposes a possible workaround.
Solution
It is not possible to limit the visibility of a space, preventing a security group to view the space.
Space permissions are managed through the gear icon > Permissions from the main page of the space:
This will bring you to the Space Permission page:
From this page, you can perform basically two different operations:
- you can grant permissions to groups, by using the "Add group" button:
- you can add a "User override" for a specific user, by performing the following steps:
- use the "Create a user override" button:
- click "Set exception"
- from the page that is displayed, as shown in the following screenshot, you can set various options, including "No access":
- use the "Create a user override" button:
As visible in the above screenshots, there is no "Security Group override" function (but only User override).
Hence, the best way to achieve a similar result is to create a single User Override for each user in the Security Group you want to hide the space from.
Anyway, the best option in general, if you have sensitive content you want to hide, is not to use a Space at all, and use a Private Group instead.
You can create a Group by going into Create (Pencil Icon) > Group:
You can make the group not accessible by other people by setting it as "Private", and if you want also "Unlisted" (meaning that it will be invisible):
Be aware that Full Administrators will still be able to see and access the Private Group.
