Overview
You can configure Jive so that it allows you to use SAML SSO for some users, and forms authentication for others. This article provides the procedure for setting up such mixed-mode authentication.
Information
Mixed-mode authentication assumes that some of your users are provisioned from a SAML IdP (Identity Provider), and others will be self-registered or created by another method. These two kinds of users will access the application via different login pages.
When mixed-mode authentication is set up, the Login Entry Page settings determine the initial login page wording for:
- When you have enabled externally accessible groups.
- When your community uses SAML SSO, and you have also enabled form-based authentication for non-SSO users.
You can use the default wording provided, or edit the text in all the supported languages. When users access the login page, their browser settings determine which language they see.
Process
To set up mixed-mode authentication (assuming that SAML SSO has been set up already):
- Navigate to Admin Console > Advanced Settings > People > Settings > Login Settings > Enable Form-based Login.
- Select Enabled under Enable Form-based Login.
- Click Save Settings, to apply the changes.
This enables a dual login page since SSO users will log in differently than non-SSO users. - Navigate to People > Settings > Single Sign-On > Login Entry Page and provide text for each type of login (i.e., SSO and non-SSO).
By default, the application shows the options as employee and non-employee login, but you can customize the text. - Click Save Settings, to apply the changes.
