Overview

If you are an admin of a user group that has access to a Place but you not a member of the user group, you cannot access the Place and will see an unauthorized error. This article explains the diagnosis of the behavior and the expected product functionality.

 

Diagnosis

Action

1. Login to your Jive instance as the user that is the group admin of the user group that has access to the Place.
2. Try to access the Place that the user group has access to.

 

Actual behavior

You see an Unauthorized access error message.

 

Expected behavior

The user should be able to access the Place as they are the group admin for the user group that has access permissions for the Place.

 

Information

The Place can only be accessed by the members of the user group that has permission to access the Place. The group admin(s) of the user group is not considered as the user group's members, hence cannot access the Place.
