Overview
Sometimes you may find that new content cannot be found when you use the search feature, or the search results are missing expected content.
Whenever you search for a particular piece of content or use the Jive @mention feature to tag content in Blogs, Places, or Groups, the results rely on the search index being correctly built and populated. This article provides the steps required to rebuild or update the Content Search Index.
Information
Rebuilding a user search index manually can be very time-consuming and resource-intensive, and should only be performed at a time when it will have the least impact on your Jive community users. Before you proceed, you may wish to review the article People Search Not Working As Expected or Showing Incorrect Results.
You can either rebuild the content search index for all content types or just for a specific content item or place.
Warning: Before you rebuild the content index, consider site performance and the needs of your site users. We recommend that you do not reindex search manually during peak usage hours, for example, or during a site-wide campaign or an event that results in high usage.
Process
Follow the steps below to rebuild the content search index.
-
Navigate to Admin Console > System > Settings > Search.
-
Navigate to Content Search > Index Tasks tab.
-
Check that an Index rebuild task is not already running. If it is, you will need to wait for this task to complete.
- Under Rebuild content index, click Rebuild Index.
