Overview
This article briefly answers a question on whether or not sharing documents with unlicensed users (or users without Jive accounts) is possible in Jive, and if yes, how it can be enabled.
Environment
Jive Interactive Intranet - Jive Core
Process
The answer is yes, you can share documents with external users, and it is done through a Place created specifically for that. You can create an external group to add external users as contributors to any document being shared in that group. To do this, you must have the Externally Accessible Groups option enabled.
To enable this option, follow the steps below:
- Log in to the user's instance in JCA (Jive Cloud Admin).
- Click on the System tab.
- Click on the Settings sub-tab.
- Click on Externally Accessible Groups.
- Enable this option.
Note: External access cannot be enabled while guest access is permitted.
