Empty Dashboard in Jive for Office Using Office 2016

Overview

When the user installs Jive for Office 30.7.54 on Office 2016, the dashboard shows blank.

Environment

Jive Interactive Intranet-Desktop Integrations: Jive for Office 30.7.54, Office 2016

Reproduction Steps

  1. Install Jive for Office on Office 2016.
  2. Open an Office application (Word, Excel, or PowerPoint).
  3. Connect to an Office environment.

Expected Result

  • When the user opens the Jive for Office Dashboard in an Office application, it shows blank.

Actual Results

  • The users should be able to see the Jive for Office dashboard.

Root Cause

This issue is related to the display settings introduced in Office 2016, you can find more information in the following Microsoft article: Office support for high definition displays.

Resolution

Follow these steps for every affected Office application:

  1. From the application, go to File > Options.

  2. Click on ‘Add-ins’ and then go to Manage > COM Add-ins and click ‘Go’.

  3. Uncheck the Jive for Office Addin and click OK. Close the affected Office application

  4. Open the affected Office application again.

  5. Click on 'Display Settings' on the bottom right-hand corner of the Open Office application. If you cannot find it there, you can use this alternative path: File > Option > General.  

  6. Choose "Optimize for compatibility". 

  7. Close and reopen the affected Office application.

  8. Go to File > Options.

  9. Click on ‘Add-ins’ and then go to Manage > COM Add-ins and click ‘Go’.

  10. Check the Jive for Office Addin and click OK. Close the affected Office application

  11. Open the affected Office application again.
