Overview

This article will help if you are trying to find out in which Place (Space or Group) a content such as a Blog Post has been shared to. Usually, the assumption is that this information would be available through the DES (Data Explorer) export in the ACTIVITY_DESTINATION_NAME action property.

Solution

The DES export does not contain the information on which Place a Blog Post (or other content) was shared. If you need to get information on the Shares in your community, please use the Share Service REST API.

The action property ACTIVITY_DESTINATION_NAME in the DES export, that's related to Shares, signifies the original location of the content and not the Place where it was shared. If the content is located in Space A and is shared in Space B, the ACTIVITY_DESTINATION_NAME will have the value of Space A.

Additionally, the DES Explorer was deprecated with the introduction of the new AWS Analytics API. While you can still export the data from your community, the feature is not in active development anymore.
