Overview
Jive users are not able to insert/embed an uploaded image into a video's description via the RTE (Rich Text Editor). After they click on the Insert Image button, the "From your computer" option doesn't appear:
For hosted and on-premise customers, this issue was recorded under the code JVHOP-1084.
This article describes possible solutions to this issue.

Please review the information below based on your instance type.
Jive Hosted or On-Premise
This issue was fixed as of Jive versions 9.0.5 and later. Please upgrade your instance to the latest version to resolve this issue. At this point, clearing your browser cache could is useful step, since the issue could simply be related to cached files overriding the recent upgrade.
If the issue persists after upgrading, this may be due to your community being customized. Please check if you have any customizations that affect one or more of the following files on your web servers:
- /usr/local/jive/applications/template/application/WEB-INF/classes/soy/rte/rte_image.soy
- /usr/local/jive/var/www/resources/scripts/tiny_mce3/plugins/jiveimage/editor_plugin_src.js
- /usr/local/jive/var/www/resources/scripts/vendor/html5shiv.js
- /usr/local/jive/var/www/resources/scripts/tiny_mce3/tiny_mce_popup.js
- /usr/local/jive/var/www/resources/scripts/jquery/jquery.js
- /usr/local/jive/var/www/resources/scripts/jquery/jquery.form.js
- /usr/local/jive/var/www/resources/scripts/tiny_mce3/plugins/jiveimage/js/jiveimage.js
If you are unable to identify the cause of the issue, please contact us so that ATLAS can assist you. If you are not satisfied with the solution provided by ATLAS, then it will create a ticket for you on which you can attach the above files attached from one of the Jive web application servers.
Jive Cloud
As a workaround for this issue, please follow these steps:
- Navigate to the video's page.
- Click on Edit.
- Drag and drop the image you would like to insert from the local computer to the video's description section.
- Publish the video.
